Caroline uses art and design to engage community - a process that for her reaches far beyond “decoration” to concepts as ambitious as justice and urban restoration. This process requires dialogue, cooperation and collaboration— essential skills for building meaningful connections to each other and for a successful democratic life. The foundation of democracy is faith in the power of pooled and cooperative experience. And that through participation arises a sense of positive responsibility for one’s community. There is a magic that happens when people see their ideas come to life and translated into shared public space.
I believe that if people don’t love the spaces they live and work and share, then they are less likely to take care of them, participate in them and fight for them when threatened. My goal as an artist and designer is to not only make people fall love with their surroundings, but also feel proud of their contribution to enhance them.
